I love to read, but I don't have as much time to read at this season in my life. Right now, I'm all about reading "fluffy books" - that's what I call easy and quick reads that don't take much mental or emotional energy. Here are a few of my favorites from last year:
Patchwork Mysteries
I read all 26 books in this series and wished there were more! This is a wholesome book series about a lady who restores antique quilts. Each book contains a mystery surrounding the quilt. The characters are instantly likeable, the stories are (mostly) believable, and the books are really easy and fun to read. They also made me want to start quilting!
Annie's Attic
I haven't finished this series yet (I've read the first four), but it's similar to the Patchwork Mysteries. Annie inherits her grandmother's house in Maine, Grey Gables. She moves from Texas to Grey Gables to fix the house up and sell it, but finds mysteries in the old house that keep making her think about staying in Grey Gables. These books are fun to read, a bit predictable, but if you're looking for quick and easy feel-good books, these are it!
The Potluck Club
Now this series was my absolute favorite! It is about a group of women that call themselves the Potluck Club. They get together once a month to gossip pray. There is mystery and suspense, lots of humor (I laughed out loud a few times), and love stories. This series had everything! I was so sad when I read the last book and really wished there would be more.
Matched Trilogy
This was a really interesting young adult series by Ally Condie. I couldn't put them down. This is a dystopian story about The Society in which kids are "matched" at age 17 with their life partners. Cassia, the main character, is matched with Xander, her best friend. But then another match flashes across the screen - Kye, an outcast at their school. Cassia questions whether The Society is all that it seems to be, and Cassia, Xander, and Kye all have storylines in this trilogy. You can read more here, and it will make you want to get the book!
Thanks for these recs! I want to check out those first two series that you mentioned. Have you read the Sisterchicks series by Robin Jones Gunn, or any of her books? She has so many books that are in a series, but the Sisterchicks ones are some of my favorites of all time. I also love the Yada Yada Prayer Group series by Neta Jackson (and the ones that follow that series). I would say those are my top two favorite sets of books and I have read them again many times over!

ReplyDeleteThanks so much for taking the time to stop by and leave such a kind comment on my post about my Word for the year....I truly appreciate it...I will definitely keep these series of books in mind as I plan to start to read more this year but first I have to get through over 40 books i bought at a mystery library sale during the Pandemic for $10 for 10 paperbacks!!! Then I plan on getting a library card to enjoy the benefits of our local libraries....The weight loss was far from easy as I have auto immune thyroid disease which makes it so hard to lose weight but I managed to do it....Now to keep it off!!!

Oooh $10 for 10 books? That’s a great bargain! Keeping the weight off is always the hardest part and the part I struggle with the most!
DeleteI started the Match trilogy. Students were reading it at our junior high where I sometimes sub so I started reading it. I liked the book but for some reason did not read the other two. Now I´m thinking about getting them at the library....
