Zeke is on Week 12 in My Father's World God's World A to Z. This week we learned all about the octopus and the letter O!
We didn’t do school Tuesday because u had a meeting in the morning and then got sick! So we did Tuesday and Wednesday’s school today. Zeke did his handwriting page, sound discrimination page, math page, and CVC word page. Forgive the quality, it was dreary outside and they were already in the sheet protectors before I remembered to snap a picture.
Then we talked about the oceans and Zeke colored the oceans blue and the land green on the world map. He said, “I didn’t know that there was that much water around us!”
Next we did a simple Label the Octopus worksheet.
We also read a few books about octopuses today. He did two pages in Abeka math and four in Go for the Code.
We didn’t get to do school Thursday either because we were all sick and went to the doctor. Zeke tested positive for Flu A. He was feeling a little better Friday around lunch, so we did our school to finish out the week.
He did his blend letter page, and he is sort of getting how to blend the words and read them. Some of them he does easily, and some he really struggles. The words on his ladder this week are mad, dot, and mud. He also struggled a little with the word list, but I know it will click sooner or later.
He also drew words that begin with the short O sound - octopus, olive, otter, and October. He did a great job writing the words, too!
He dotted all the Os on this printable I found from Confessions of a Homeschooler.
We used his handprint octopus from Monday and made an ocean mural by gluing it to a sheet of blue paper and adding fish stickers.
He worked two pages in Abeka Math. He really understands how to read and write two digit numbers.
He also played with this Pixel Art set I got him for Christmas. I’m amazed that he figured out how to read the grids and follow the patterns on his own!
And we had a few more things planned for this week, but illness really deterred us. I still think he had an excellent week! One of the things he remembered was that an octopus has three hearts and he kept reminding me. I love when some little fact just sticks with him. I'm hoping next week we will get to do school all five days and go to speech therapy since he missed that this week.
Love this post! I loved our homeschooling years (middle school) and wish I had started from the beginning.
ReplyDeleteThe younger years homeschooling are definitely my favorite!
