LeapStart Learning Success Bundle - TOS Review

Disclosure: I received this complimentary product through the Homeschool Review Crew.

LeapFrog

We don't buy many electronic toys for our children when they are young; we much prefer open-ended toys. However, LeapFrog is a brand I have been familiar with for many years! My kids, including Zeke, have all loved LeapFrog's "Letter Factory" DVD. When I was given the opportunity to review LeapFrog's LeapStart Learning Success Bundle with my three-year-old son, Zeke, I was very excited.

The LeapStart Learning Success Bundle is for children ages 2-7. The Bundle comes with the LeapStart Learning Success system, two books, a USB cord to download more books from the internet, and an instruction manual. You will need two AA batteries to run the system. This is a complete, interactive learning system that covers a variety of preschool, kindergarten, and 1st grade subjects through fun games and activities.

Each book has interactive buttons your child will push with the stylus (attached to the system so it can't get lost!). The symbol key is in the front of each book. The green star begins a level one activity - asking your child to find things on the pages or press on certain objects. The orange stars begin a level 2 activity, which is more challenging than the level 1 activity. The yellow arrow reads the entire story, and the purple book reads just the page your child has opened up to. The blue lightbulb gives you a hint, and the red hand stops everything. It was pretty easy for Zeke to remember to push the green and orange stars for the activities - his favorite part.

One of the books we received is called "Cory Carson Superhero School". This is a Level 1 Preschool book. The other book, Zeke's favorite, is called "Adventures in Learning." This is a level 1-3 book, for Preschool through 1st grade. Each of these pages is from another book, so there is quite the variety of topics and activities included.

Zeke really enjoyed playing with just the system - no books! When you open the system, there are numbers, letters, shapes, colors, and sounds to play with. There are activity buttons which ask you to find a certain shape, letter, number, or sound. Zeke loved playing with this part.

He also enjoyed the "Adventures in Learning" book. Some of the activities in this book include giving treats to different animals at a party, helping a robot count and find certain parts, and tracing and recognizing numbers.

You can hook up the USB cord to your computer to download audio and video for the books from LeapFrog Connect. This was a simple process to complete and didn't take much time at all. Anytime you purchase another book for your system, just go to LeapFrog Connect to download the free audio and video!

Zeke really enjoys playing with this system. We bring it in the car on his way to speech (an hour drive both ways once a week) and it will keep him entertained for a while. He will also sit on the couch and play with this system for a while. Like I mentioned before, he loves playing with just the system (no books) but that is already teaching him numbers, letters, and reviewing his colors and shapes. The system is really easy to work. The only problem Zeke has is opening it up and closing it - it's pretty hard for his little hands to open the system and get the stylus in there just right to shut it.

This LeapStart Learning Success Bundle is $44.99 (but on Amazon right now it's on sale for less than $30!) and the additional books are around $8-9. The downloads on LeapFrog Connect are free and quick! This is a really great interactive learning toy for the preschool age.
