We had a fun weekend! We went to the Austin Aquarium on Saturday. It was a lot of fun, and they had more than just aquatic animals. Mercie and Titus went into the bird room and had birds landing on their hands, arms, and even heads! They got to feed them and pet them. Mercie pet every animal she was allowed to including turtles, sting rays, starfish and birds!
Zeke loved the alligators and parrots! He got a stuffed parrot to take home.
Sunday we went bowling and had brunch at the bowling alley. I had a breakfast quesadilla and it was delicious! We had fun bowling, too.
This week Titus started using My Father's World Adventures in U.S. History. We received this entire package free to use and review. This is truly a blessing and we are excited about it! The first week went great! Titus reviewed countries and oceans, states, and map directions. He also learned about Leif the Lucky and the Vikings.
We talked about his name and what his name means because he will be learning about the names of Jesus this year. He even got to make us a special snack - graham cracker with our names written in icing!

We read some in a science encyclopedia for kids and did a quick experiement with eggs, water, and salt. We put water in both cups, but added salt to only one. He dropped an egg in each to see which egg would float. He knew the egg with the salt would float because we learned about the Dead Sea last year, and he remembered that the salt in the Dead Sea makes people float!
He worked in his language arts, math, cursive handwriting, and art workbooks. He also did some reading. I am reading aloud to him from "Pilgrim Adventures" and he is enjoying that.

We made several trips to the library for movies and books. We have to wear a mask everywhere which really stinks. I don't make my kids mask because I don't think it's healthy. What is your opinion on masks?
Zeke is cheesin' big time!
Looks like another good week. Your husband is quite handsome, the poor guy looks so tired though. He must work in the heat like my husband, he comes home totally wilted.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your weekend!
Thank you! I think he very handsome myself. He does work in the heat all day long, and he is always tired!
DeleteWhat a fun trip to the aquarium! We only wear masks when we are inside public places so my boys don't have to wear them often and when they do it's only for short stretches of time. We are pretty anti- mask so we try to avoid places where we have to wear them-- sticking to home and parks/ places that allow us to be outside and well spread out from others.
ReplyDeleteWe live in Louisiana and our governor just made it mandatory for everyone 8 and up to wear a mask ALL THE TIME when they're in PUBLIC. I'm like - NO. I just don't understand this. I understand that our cases keep increasing, but it's mainly down south in the larger areas like Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Lafayette. We live in the rural NE corner.
ReplyDeletelooks like you had a fantastic week! Do an egg in vinegar and see what your son thinks of the result. :)
ReplyDeleteOh we have never done that! What kind of homeschooler am I?
DeleteHow cool! What type of birds were they? The zoo I used to work at had a Lorikeet exhibit where you could feed them. You had to go early in the day because later in the day the birds were full and no longer flew over to your hand for food.
ReplyDeleteI think I heard her say a Lorikeet but that people called them Parakeets. We were there before lunchtime and there weren't many others there!
