Blogging Through the Alphabet: P is for Puzzles

I have been "Blogging Through the Alphabet" for 16 weeks, and we are on the letter "P"! I am going to list some of my family's favorite puzzles.

Link & Learn Mathematics by The Learning Journey

These self-correcting puzzles are great for introducing and teaching addition and subtraction. There are 30 different pieces teaching basic mathematical skills. These puzzles are good for keeping a young child entertained {and educated!} while you are busy.

My kids love these 12 piece wooden puzzles. There are several different themes - vehicles, construction, farm animals, zoo animals. The box has four different compartments to keep the puzzles separate, and there are different shapes on the back of the pieces for quick clean up and sorting.

Melissa & Doug USA Map 51 pcs Floor Puzzle

This puzzle is 3 foot by 2 foot when it's completed. We love the sturdy cardboard pieces and the beautiful colors and illustrations on the map. It's a great way to learn the states!

My two little boys love playing with this puzzle! They can either use the fishing pole to "fish" or put the pieces in the normal way. The magnetic pole works really well. There is also a bug-catching puzzle with a magnetic net - super cute!

Melissa & Doug Fish Colors Mix N Match Peg Puzzle

This puzzle is a great tool for teaching matching and colors. The color word is written where the puzzle piece should go, so it can help teach color word recognition, too. My boys also love to make colorful fish by mixing up the pieces!

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Latches Board

My little ones love to play with the latches and locks on this board! It is so good for fine motor skills, plus keeping those hands busy means quiet time for Mom!

Ravensburger XXL Children's Globe 180 Piece Puzzleball

We haven't actually used this puzzle globe, but I bought it for my nephew's birthday. I feel like I will be ordering one for my kiddos pretty soon. There are 180 curved puzzle pieces that form this globe when put together. It comes with a sturdy stand. What a great way to learn geography!

The Learning Journey Doubles Glow in The Dark Space Puzzle

These giant floor puzzles are 100 pieces. My oldest son is receiving one of these for Easter, and my younger ones will receive one with less pieces. There are many different themes and some glow in the dark!

There are so many more puzzles we love doing at our home, and many we find at the Dollar Tree for $1.00! We even found some that had two puzzles mixed up in the box, and we had to separate the puzzle pieces before completing them - challenging but fun.

  1. We love Melissa and Doug Puzzles (and toys) too, but that puzzle globe looks like something my oldest would LOVE to get his hands on!

  2. Puzzles! We've used puzzles on and off the entire time we've homeschooled. They are typically a welcomed break from seat work.

  3. These are some great puzzles; we had so many of the wooden ones you've shown here when my boys were younger. I just love puzzles and the boys have started helping me with the larger ones I have set up for me to work on.
