Tot School: J is for Jungle (Link Up!)

This week, Zeke learned about the letter J and the Jungle! He is 25 months old. We are using the Toddler Curriculum from Moms Have Questions Too and I also make worksheets and tot tray activities for Zeke to do for each theme. He loves his hands-on activity trays, but he loves worksheets - cutting, gluing, coloring, tracing - even more.

Neon Frog Sort!

Frogs are found in the jungle, and I found these frogs at the Dollar Tree in four neon colors. I put them in our sorting tray and Zeke sorted them color!

Jungle Animal Match!

I pulled out our Melissa and Doug magnetic animals and found eight of them that could be jungle animals. I printed a sheet with images of the animals and Zeke had to match the magnetic animals to the images. I like the Montessori approach of connecting things to real life images.

I also found this package of Jungle-y stickers from the Dollar Tree. I quickly made a worksheet with matching black and white images and Zeke had to match the stickers to the pictures. He did a good job with this - he loves anything with stickers.

Zeke had more worksheet type activities than hands-on play this week. Here are the worksheets he did:

He put jungle stickers on his J and j. These were a combination of zoo animal and tropical stickers I had in my scrapbook sticker box.

He dot markered the J's with a green dot marker. He loves dot markers! You can see how well he did with them. When he first started, he filled the entire page. Now he knows to dot inside each dot!

He glued matching shapes to their shadows. He is getting good at naming the shapes- we do these same shapes each week.

He drew lines to match the animals. This worksheet was made by me.

He sorted and glued four different jungle animals to a chart. I made this worksheet.

He stamped J's on this picture. This was his first time using stamps! He enjoyed it. Normally, we do letter stickers.

He matched colored dot stickers on snakes to make patterns.

He aIso had this pattern finishing page. I  would repeat the pattern, "tree, monkey, tree monkey, tree..." and then he would fill in "monkey!"

He matched foam shape stickers to shapes on the snake. I made this worksheet for Zeke.

He glued flies to feed the frogs the right amount. I also made this worksheet.

I had planned a few more activities, but we actually had a pretty busy week. These are all we got to! Click the link below for more of our Tot School Alphabet Posts. I'm slowly working on getting these posted.

  1. I love the jungle stickers with the matching worksheet. Great idea! I will have to remember this once D gets a bit older!
