The Peaceful Preschool - Letter F

We didn't do as many activities this week as we have been doing, but Zeke still really enjoyed learning the F is for Fish!

Our book this week was Fish is Fish. Zeke used fish stamps to decorate his letters.

He also sorted fish by type. We used these fish and a sorting tray - this is an old Melissa and Doug tray that works really well as a sorting tray! He had fun with this activity.

I also picked him up this alphabet and number fishing puzzle. He loved it! It's been played with quite a bit lately.

We used the counting cards from The Peaceful Preschool and goldfish to do some counting. He is getting really good at counting to ten. I didn't get a picture of this.

I also made a few worksheets for Zeke to use. He matched fish shapes, put matching fish in the same colored bowls, traced his letters, and counted fish, putting dot stickers with that number on the box.

We also worked on the /f/ sound, which is what he is working on in his speech therapy right now. He has started making the /f/ sound, but hasn't put it with the words yet. So fish is still /i/ since he can't make the /f/ or the /sh/. He built the letters with playdough.

I also put out his wooden Matchimals game. He matched the animals and named them all.

He loves cutting paper, and he is really getting good at being precise! This is such a great fine motor activity as well as keeping him quiet and busy for a good chunk of time.

Next week is G!

The Peaceful Preschool - Letter E

This week was all about eggs! Zeke's books were "An Egg is Quiet" and "Rechenka's Egg." Some of his activities this were:

EGG TRANSFER & 10-FRAME

I had these wooden eggs leftover from a project several years ago. I placed ten of them in a basket with a spoon and his wooden ten-frame. He enjoyed scooping them into the ten-frame! It was a great fine motor activity.

MAKING A NEST AND EGGS FROM CLAY

This was his first time to really use modeling clay, and he did fabulous! He made his own nest and four eggs to go inside. I let him paint them once they were dry.

PAINTING AN EGG

After we read "Rechenka's Egg", I was thinking I should let him paint an egg. My daughter beat me to it, though! She collected an egg from her chicken that had a hole in it, so she cleaned it out and let it dry. She then helped him paint it!

SHADOW MATCHING

I have had these shadow matching wooden puzzles for years. I pulled them out and set a few on a tray for Zeke. He came back to this activity several times this week.

LACING BEADS

He enjoys lacing beads, and these are just beautiful.

ALPHABET MATCHING CARDS

I set the uppercase and lowercase cards for A-E in a basket. Zeke practiced matching the uppercase and lowercase letters. It's a little easy because the pictures match on the cards, but that does help him and he is still learning!

EGG SHAPE PUZZLES

I ordered this set from Amazon for around $13, and Zeke has played it with almost every day! He loves putting the eggs together according to their shapes.

MATCHING

We also used our tactile letters and moveable alphabet to match the upper and lower case letters. We do this each week and he loves it.

WORKSHEETS

You know me - I had to add plenty of fun egg-themed worksheets. All of these are created by me.

Next week is letter F!

The Peaceful Preschool - Letter D

This week was all about ducks, dogs, and donuts! The books Zeke had on his shelf were "If You Give a Dog a Donut", "Make Way for Ducklings", and "10 Little Rubber Ducks." He had some really fun activities this week! I'll share each activity under the book theme.

IF YOU GIVE A DOG A DONUT

This is a cute book, a sequel to "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie." Zeke made a paper plate donut craft today which was so easy and turned out so cute! I cut a hole in the center of a paper plate and Zeke colored it, then glued on sprinkles.

We also talked about circles (since donuts are circles!). He glued Cheerios on a circle outline and stamped circles with paint and a toilet paper tube.

He also matched the uppercase letters A-D to the lowercase letters.

I created this worksheet for Zeke. He likes to match pictures to their shadows or outlines, so I found some free dog clip art on TPT and made this for him.

He coloreded the "D"s on this worksheet.

He also did number puzzles 1-5.

He also glued sprinkles on his letter pages.

10 LITTLE RUBBER DUCKS and MAKE WAY FOR DUCKLINGS

I set up a really simple water play invitation for Zeke with rubber ducks and a plastic tub of water. I numbered the ducks 1-5, and he named each number on his own.

I also created these worksheets for Zeke. He had to glue the ducks numbered 1-5 in order.

He also glued ducks with an uppercase D to lowercase "d"s in the pond.

He labeled a duck. He colored pictures that start with D. He water-color painted a duck.

I also set up a tray with a duck bath-sticker, glass beads, and tongs. Zeke had to balance each glass bead on the sticker. He didn't use the tongs because the beads were too slippery. This is actually a busy bag in my Etsy shop, but instead of glass beads it's pom-poms.

He matched his moveable alphabet with his tacticle flashcards we make each week. I use glitter glue to trace the letters.

He matched mama animals with their babies. The animals started with "D" - I just picked the ones out of the box that began with "D".

He also played with his new wooden lacing beads and 10-frame tray.
