Tot School Thursday: I is for Insect

Here is our I is for Insect toddler school week! Zeke was 25 months old when we completed this theme. It was a fun theme, but I didn't get many pictures this week.

TOT TRAYS:
We only had a few trays this week. First I put a few packs of bugs that I found at the Dollar Tree in his sorting tray. He had to sort them by color - red, green, black, blue, and yellow. He did a good job and even sorted them by type once.

I also have a set of bug counters that come in six colors (but I couldn't find my orange paper cup so we only used five colors). He sorted these by color as well and dumped them out to do it again! Sorting by color is not a challenge for Zeke anymore, but we still work on this skill.

Zeke also completed many worksheets this week. He loves worksheets - anything with coloring, cutting, gluing, matching, stickers...he loves it!

He put insect stickers on his letters:

He put jewel stickers on the butterflies.

I got these worksheets from my Toddler Busy Binder and just adapted them as cut and glue. He had to glue the bugs into their matching colored jars.

He counted bugs and put the number sticker beside them. He can't recognize his numbers yet, so I helped him with this.

He finished patterns.

He sorted bugs and also matched them to their shadows.

He colored bugs.

He used dot markers on his letters and got a little crazy with it.

He matches shapes to their outlines and practiced naming them.

Sorry for the quality of the pictures. It's early in the morning and very overcast, so no natural light to help me out! Link up any of your toddler school posts below!

  1. My 4 year old still likes to sort by color. It is great when they learn a skill and still want to keep practicing it. Each time it can be challenging!

    1. That's awesome! I hope he continues to enjoy it. It does give him confidence to work below his challenge level - like, "look what I can do!" And of course he has a team of older siblings who cheer on everything he does.
