Tot School: D is for Dog!

Zeke was 24 months old when we completed the D is for Dog toddler school unit. I'm using the Toddler School curriculum from Moms Have Questions Too, along with my own worksheets and tot tray ideas. I'll note whenever a worksheet was my own creation or an idea was my own. The rest were from the curriculum.

Dog Bone Sorting!

This was my idea. I bought a box of Mini Milk Bones that came in several different colors (flavors). I had Zeke sort them by color, which was challenging because the shades were very similar! He also decided to taste test them.

Buckle the Dog's Collar!

This was a great fine motor activity. Zeke loves to buckle and unbuckle things, so I knew he would have a blast doing this. He buckled the collar on the stuffed dog several times!

Feed the Dog!

I also made this worksheet and laminated it. I put a number in the box and Zeke had to feed the dog that many bones. He doesn't recognize his numbers yet, so I said the number as I put it down. We counted out the bones together.

Match the Shapes on the Dog Bowl!

I also made this worksheet. I added shapes to a dog bowl and gave Zeke some button shapes. He had to match the shapes to the bowl. He did fantastic and named each of the shapes!

Dog Bone Painting!

I found this dog bone cookie cutter at the Dollar General. I gave Zeke some blue paint to use to stamp dog bones. He really liked this! He loves painting and making a mess.

Count the Dogs!

I bought a pack of 12 small plastic dogs from Amazon because I knew they would get played with (and they do!). I made these cards with numbers and dogs. Zeke had to put a dog on each picture and count them.

He also completed these worksheets:

He stuck dog stickers (found at the Dollar General) on the letter D and d.

He used dot markers on the D and d and on this dog dot marker worksheet (found on Google).

He traced lines from the dogs to the dog bowl and colored the dogs the correct colors (both made by me).

He also glued the colored puppies into their matching colored homes (worksheet found on Google).

We had a blast with the dog theme!
