Friday Favorites: Rodeo and Memorial Day

Some of my favorite moments from this week:

Rodeo!

Mercie was in her first rodeo last Friday night. She did fabulous! She ran the barrels with her horse, Lil Bit, and they ran a 20.805! She placed 5th out of 10, which I think is amazing for her first run in a rodeo. More importantly, she had so much fun! We all had a great time.

I wrote my post this week for Blogging From A to Z on Arena - it tells the story of Mercie and how she got into barrel racing. This time last year, she went to her first rodeo and decided she wanted to barrel race. She made it happen in exactly one year! She's one motivated 14-year-old girl.

Rodeo Camp

Speaking of rodeos, Mercie, Silas, and Titus left for Rodeo Bible Camp yesterday. They'll be gone until Sunday evening. When we pick them up, we will get to watch them in a rodeo! Mercie is going for the barrel racing instructions and Silas and Titus are going to learn how to ride bulls. Mercie got to take her horse, Lil Bit, with her. I know they're going to have such a great time!

Mikaela and Daniel

Mikaela, my oldest, and her son, Daniel, came home this week! I haven't seen them for a few months, as they've been in South Carolina with Ken on his pipeline job. I know how my mom felt now when I took her off far away with Rod for the first time! It was so much fun to see how much Daniel's grown. He's 19 months old now and he and Zeke just love each other. He's talking so much and gives the sweetest hugs and kisses.

Memorial Day

We went to Rod's grandpa's house after church on Sunday for Memorial Day. He grilled and we all brought side dishes. It was a lot of fun! Rod's brother, wife, and their two kids came, as well as Rod's mom and step-dad and Rod's aunt. We ate and talked and watched the kids play. Afterwards we came home and did some work on a tractor (I say we...Rod worked, the kids helped, and I watched).
Rod, his Pawpaw, and his brother

We also cooked on Monday evening. Mikaela and Daniel came over and the kids all played a board game, Chameleon. We made burgers, sausage, beans, fries, and homemade ice cream. We had a blast! Rod had to go back to work Monday evening.

Those were some of my favorite moments from the week. What were yours? Linking up with:

  1. That's wonderful news of Mercie's first rodeo. I have never heard of a rodeo/bible camp before. How interesting. Yes, it's hard having kids that don't live near you. My daughter lives 9 hours away and we can sometime go months without seeing them.

    1. It's definitely hard to go without seeing your kids for months at a time, especially the grandbaby! This is their first Rodeo Bible Camp, but I think it may be regional. We have lots of rodeos and interest in rodeos around here and we live in the Bible Belt.
