Home School in the Woods Timeline Collection

I was super excited to receive the Home School in the Woods Timeline Collection: A Collection of Historical Timeline Figures to review because it is going to line up with Silas's history curriculum this year! Using a timeline is such a great way to visualize history and see how it all connects together. I cannot wait to start hanging our timeline on the wall!

WHAT IS INCLUDED?

The Timeline Collection includes over 1,260 timeline figures! The four sets are:
  1. Creation to Christ
  2. Resurrection to Revolution
  3. Napoleon to Now
  4. America's History
You also receive 80 bonus figures, including Louie Braille and Beatrix Potter.

The Timeline Collection is broken into two parts. Part One includes all of the timeline figures in both wall and notebook sizes. You can also choose them with text or without text. The text is very helpful to jog your memory on a person or event. For example, the text for Menes is "c. 3100 B.C. King of Egypt who, by unifying Upper and Lower Egypt, founded the first Egyptian dynasty. He was also the founder of Memphis. The first drawings of Upper and Lower Egypt and the Lower Nile were excavated by Napoleon and Denon in 1798." That's especially helpful for kids who are learning about history. Sometimes the names and dates run together, but reading the text will remind your kids who's who! Each sheet has around ten figures on each page. These are the wall-sized figures:

Part Two consists of the same timeline figures, except they are high-quality GIFs that you can enlarge or reduce and make coloring pages, notebook pages, and more. They are classified several ways: chronologically, alphabetically, and topically. This makes it so easy to find just what you are looking for! It also saves ink because you don't have to print an entire page to get the one figure you need.

HOW DO WE USE IT?

I'm going to be hanging the timeline on our wall so we can all watch as the history comes together! It's going to make it much easier for the kids to remember what happened when, and when a certain person lived. Connecting the dots of history is of the functions of a timeline! I printed off several pages of figures that we will need for the first few weeks of our curriculum. I printed them on cardstock. I consider laminating, but decided against it since they'll be on the wall. I'm debating on printing them notebook-sized as well so he can have his own timeline notebook.

WHAT DO WE THINK?

I absolutely love the Home School in the Woods Timeline Collection! It was so easy to download and print. The figures are very well done and professional, and the text is well-written. It gives you just enough information to jog your memory without being too long. Being able to glance at the text to connect it with the figures and time period is really nice. The figures are extremely well organized and it's very simple to find just what you need.

I also love the fact that I can choose a figure to make into a notebook page or coloring sheet and it will match the timeline. I have a feeling I will be making a lot of these! Here is a notebook page I created:

This Timeline Collection will be used throughout the rest of my homeschooling days! I may even use it at church for our Sunday School kids using the religious figures. The Timeline Collection is $73.95 for the digital download and $74.95 for the CD.
