A New Challenge

As parents, we face challenges from time to time. Some of these challenges are more difficult than others. Some of them make us sad, or mad, or both. Some of them come without warning and without an instruction manual, leaving us to wonder how in the world we will face them and get through them.

I am facing such a challenge right now. My 17 year old daughter found out she was pregnant almost a month ago. She was finishing her junior year of high school before the schools closed down. She and her boyfriend broke up around a few weeks before she found out she was expecting a baby. They are not planning to work things out. She is planning to keep the baby. We are pro-life, but she is also already in love with the unborn baby.

I'm still in shock.

However, I do know that God works everything out for the good for those who love him. That doesn't mean that everything is always going to BE good - but that He will work out all the bad and all the good FOR the better good. He has a plan. He was not surprised by this. He is knitting her baby together in her womb as we speak. He knows exactly who the baby is already - a boy or a girl, a doctor or a missionary or teacher.

And I have to trust Him to carry me through.

There are many plans to be made and decisions to pray over. Will you pray with me? For me? For Mikaela? For the baby - my grandchild - she is carrying?

I don't know what tomorrow will hold. We live in such a world of uncertainty right now. But I do know Who holds tomorrow and that is enough for me.
