Homeschool Highlights 4/6/20-4/10/20

This week, we traveled to Morocco in Expedition Earth. We did our usual country fact sheet, flag sheet, Children Just Like Me worksheet, and postcard. We had zero books on Morocco since our library is closed, but we read from our Atlas and our Children Just Like Me book. It was a simple "trip" but that's fine.

We did some paper weaving to mimic the Moroccan fabric weaving.
We are reviewing an art curriculum called "Beyond the Stick Figure", so we did several lessons this week.

In Bible we are reading through Numbers, skipping around some. We've read through the entire Bible as a family before, so I don't feel bad about skipping some parts (like the entire book of Leviticus and some chapters in Numbers). We have memorized 1 Corinthians 13:1-7, and halfway to memorizing the entire chapter!

Titus finished one of his math workbooks this week! Silas has three lessons left in his Math Lessons for a Living Education workbook, and he already started on his new math workbook. I got him Math Essentials for 4th and 5th grade for him to complete from now until August. Even I had math this week, as I'm reviewing Math Refresher for Adults from Math Essentials. Silas thought it was neat that we have the same type of workbook.
Titus worked on Reading Unlocked (review coming Monday) and did some grammar worksheets in his workbook. He also did some handwriting practice sheets.

Silas and Mercie are plugging along in their language arts curriculum! They'll be finished before long.

We played lots of Rummikub, Uno, and Yahtzee this week sitting outside on the porch.

A few rounds of Rummikub inside

The kids played basketball, football, and jumped on the trampoline. We spent the majority of every afternoon outside. The boys have also been getting into the Lego stash and building all sorts of cool things.

Mercie, Silas, and even Titus have been devouring the "A Series of Unfortunate Events" series by Lemeny Snicket. They're all on different books, going in order. I'm so happy to see them reading!

Peek-A-Boo!
This afternoon we are going on our Resurrection Day Nature Hunt, and we'll tell the Resurrection story using our nature finds. Tomorrow we will make our Resurrection Day Rolls, and then Sunday we will celebrate Resurrection Day at home with a basket of goodies and some worship. I'll make a nice big meal and a cake for us to enjoy.

How was your week?
You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

  1. Our week was stressful... But my oldest will be finishing up school on Monday and that just leaves me with one boy and his work.

    1. It is! All of my kids love it, and I've gotten my mom hooked on it, too.
